The Heart Behind the Vision

For over three decades, Crystal D. Lewis has stood behind the salon chair as more than a stylist — she has been a mentor, encourager, and quiet counselor. Through I Say Yes Salon & Spa®, she built a space where people felt safe being themselves, exhaling, and being renewed.

As she listened to the stories of young people from ages 12-21 years — mainly from communities with limited access to professional resources— Crystal saw a pattern:

• They were talented, but often doubted themselves.
• They were creative, but lacked direction and opportunities.
• They were beautiful, but didn’t always feel beautiful.

Crystal realized that her calling wasn’t just to style hair, but to shape destinies. The salon chair became the seed — but the vision grew into something larger: a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing the next generation.

From this realization, Living In Pure Serenity (L.I.P.S.)™ was born.

Why the Name L.I.P.S.?

L.I.P.S. = Living In Pure Serenity

Crystal chose this name with great intentionality. Serenity, to her, is more than silence — it is a deep inner knowing that you are safe, valued, and at peace.

Living in pure serenity is the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled — the absence of mental stress and anxiety, and the presence of peace of mind, quietness, and tranquility.

Lips speak. They declare who we are, what we believe, and what we expect from life.
